Miss Ping Zhiow Gin started her career in the construction industry in 2010 with cost consultants YSCA Consultancy, performing quantity surveying duties for a range of projects. During this period Zhiow Gin gained valuable experience in cost valuation, value engineering, tender processes and contract administration.

In 2015 Zhiow Gin moved into construction, initially working with a local building contractor, and later joined established Chinese foundation contractor Zhongji Construction in 2016. The construction experience allowed Zhiow Gin to develop her skills on the commercial aspects of the business, ranging from budgeting, procurement, cash flow and negotiations, as well as the contractual aspects of claims, notification, disputed variations and final accounts.

Zhiow Gin joined CSi’s dispute management team in 2019 and plays a key role in the firm’s adjudication and arbitration work. Notable recent appointments include acting for a main contractor in pursuit of multiple adjudication claims against the same employer for three resort developments in Johor, assisting counsel in an arbitration for a disputed hospital construction project in Pahang, retainer services for an on-going renovation of a 5-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur, as well as multiple appointments with Chinese contractors for contract administration services. At the same time Zhiow Gin pursued a bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence on a part-time basis and graduated in 2023. 

Zhiow Gin recently completed her training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK and the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators. She is certified to act as Adjudicator for statutory adjudication under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act (CIPAA) in Malaysia. She is also empaneled to act as Adjudicator by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Adjudicator Nominating Body under the Hong Kong Security of Payment Scheme for Public Works Contracts and the Hong Kong Security of Payment Ordinance.
